The transcendental beauty of Notre-Dame has inspired artists, poets, and writers for centuries. The rose windows in particular has captured my imagination since I was a child. My grandfather worked in stained glass so I understood how stained glass windows were made, so to see these windows in person was overwhelming and in a word- sublime.
In my experiments with using the Cluster Dot design I was layering and inverting it, using its outlines and playing with colors and eventually I saw a rose window akin to what I saw at Notre-Dame. The journey to creating this pattern in particular has been such a pleasure to have experienced and connected me not only to “Our Lady” but also my grandfather as well.
